Toyota Unveils Prius Special Edition 2015 Model

The 2015 Toyota Prius celebrates the vehicle’s 14th year with a special edition model and an ever-increasing fuel efficiency — drivers can expect 50 mpg out of their Prius vehicles.

Two colors are available for the special edition Prius, absolutely red and blizzard pearl, and it features unique interior accents centered on black SofTex seats.

Under the Hood

Toyota engineers equipped the 2015 Prius with Hybrid Synergy Drive, combining a 1.8-liter Atkinson cycle four-cylinder engine with an electric motor to generate a combined 134 net horsepower and an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 51 mpg in the city and 48 mpg on the highway.

Multiple environmentally friendly systems work with the engine/motor combo to cut back on emissions from regenerative braking and exhaust heat recirculation to three driving modes — power, eco and EV, with the last being a fully electric vehicle able to drive for about a mile at moderate speeds.

Comfort and Convenience

Drivers and passengers in the 2015 Prius benefit from exceptional spaciousness and headroom. The futuristic feel of the cockpit has a multi-informational display panel that gives details on battery power and fuel economy, and it also coaches economical driving habits.

The advanced multimedia infotainment system has a display audio system with a 6.1-inch touchscreen with integrated backup camera. Sound amenities include AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA playback, and the whole system integrates with smartphones and other portable electronic devices for a wide range of hands-free calling, music playback and app integration.

An optional audio upgrade is complemented by a turn-by-turn navigation system and head-up display.

Safety

Toyota’s Prius is in the fourth year of being an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick. The suite of airbags includes front and rear side curtain airbags, driver and passenger front seat-mounted side-impact airbags and a driver’s knee airbag.

Antilock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, traction control, enhanced vehicle stability control and smart stop technology brake override system all ensure that the 2015 Prius is the safest Prius ever.
