Popular RAV4 Adds Hybrid Model for 2016

The day has come. A hybrid version of the Toyota RAV4 has arrived. Powered by a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder gas engine and electric motors in the front and rear, the Hybrid blends efficiency and capability.

The Hybrid RAV4 hauls up to 1,750 pounds, which beats the towing capacity of its gas-powered counterpart. Though the traditional RAV4 outpaced the hybrid in a 0-60 mph acceleration test, it wasn’t by much. In fact, only three-tenths of a second separated the times.

The RAV4 becomes the eighth member in Toyota’s family of hybrids, which launched 15 years ago with the Prius.
