Car care manufacturers have caught up with the green movement to help save precious resources.

Driver's have lots of choices when it comes to nozzles and other fittings that simplify vehicle washing and save water at the same time. That's good news for home owners constrained by water meters, especially home owners in the West and South.

Hose attachments reduce water consumption and make cleaning a snap. They blast through caked on dirt, grime and other filth.

There’s no shortage of options to choose from, and experts recommend buying a nozzle that’s durable, powerful and built to last.

“We went overboard and created a nozzle based on firefighter gear,” said Jim Williamson, director of product development for Griot’s Garage, a Washington-based manufacturer of car care products. "It doesn't leak and is designed to outlast your car."

Durability: A nozzle with an aluminum body and internal components made of steel will last for years.
Efficiency: Gallons upon gallons of water can be wasted from a leaking hose nozzle. Look for something with a tight seal.
Protection: A nozzle covered in rubber protects the your vehicle’s paint against accidental hits.
