Ford Recalls 1.3 Million Vehicles Over Steering Wheel Concerns
More than 1 million Ford vehicles are being recalled. The Dearborn, Mich.-based automaker announced that Fusions and Lincoln MKZs need to return to the dealership over concerns that the steering wheel may come unbolted.
The automaker said Wednesday that bolts in the steering column can loosen over time, causing the steering wheel to detach. Ford plans to address the issue by installing larger bolts in vehicles serviced during the recall.
The recall applies to 1.3 million Fusions and Lincoln MKZs built between 2014 and 2018. Affected owners are urged to take their vehicle to their local Ford dealership for a free service to correct the issue.
Ford confirmed that the steering issue has caused two collisions and one injury.
