All-new Toyota 4Runner combines rugged performance, value
The all-new 2014 Toyota 4Runner brings rugged styling and added convenience over previous models – all without sacrificing the vehicle’s nearly 30-year reputation for performance capability and excellent value.
Under the Hood
Toyota engineers equipped the 2014 4Runner with a 4-liter V6 engine that delivers 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque with an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. Four-wheel-drive models get a fuel economy of 17 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.
Power is transferred to the wheels via an ECT-i five-speed automatic transmission, and a transfer case for four-wheel-drive models. The maximum towing capacity is 5,000 pounds, and all models come with an integrated tow-hitch receiver and wiring harness.
Comfort and Convenience
The new 4Runner has multiple seating and cargo arrangements, including an available third-row seat with a 50/50 split, a pull-out cargo tray that allows for easier loading and unloading of equipment and second-row seats that can be folded flat without removing the headrests.
Toyota’s Entune infotainment system is standard on all models and is teamed with a new eight-speaker audio system with AM/FM/MP3 CD features, SiriusXM Satallite Radio connectivity, a USB port with iPod connectivity and Bluetooth hands-free phone integration. An available 15-speaker premium audio system is paired with a navigation system and a 7-inch monitor.
Safety
Safety is standard on the 2014 4Runner with vehicle stability control, traction control and a standard rearview camera. The four-wheel antilock braking system with brake assist, electronic brake force distribution and smart stop technology brake-override system all ensure the vehicle stops as quickly as possible.
Eight standard airbags come on all 4Runners, including front, side-mounted and knee airbags for driver and front passenger and side-curtain airbags for second- and third-row passengers to prevent inuries in rollover collisions.
The subscription-based Safety Connect system offers automatic collision notification, stolen vehicle location, emergency assist “SOS” button and roadside assistance.
