All new Highlander blends 8-passenger comfort, style
The all-new 2014 Toyota Highlander comfortably seats up to eight people in a vehicle that has style, presence and fuel economy but still delivers 270 horsepower.A new exterior look is complemented by a completely redesigned interior with plenty of standard technological options.Under the HoodTwo gasoline engines are available in the 2014 Highlander. A 3.5-liter V6 engine delivers 270 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque with an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway in two-wheel-drive models.Toyota engineers also equipped the Highlander with a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 185 horsepower and gets a fuel economy of 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.Both engines are mated with a six-speed automatic transmission with electronically controlled manual shifting. All-wheel-drive is also available.Comfort and ConvenienceAll Highlanders feature a newly designed LCD in-meter-cluster multi-informational display available in 2.3-inch black-and-white or 4.2-inch color displays.Expanded legroom for second- and third-row passengers increases the overall comfort, and a 60/40-split rear seat gives Highlander owners multiple options for storage and carrying large pieces of cargo.Standard equipment is top-notch, including Toyota’s Entune infotainment system with touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity and audio streaming. Heated side mirrors, a roll-top center console and smart storage are included, as is an integrated backup camera.SafetyEight airbags are standard on all Highlander models for 2014. Toyota engineers also equipped each vehicle with enhanced vehicle stability control, antilock brakes, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, traction control and smart stop technology.Available safety features include rear parking sonar, blind spot monitor with cross traffic alert, lane departure alert with automatic high beam headlights and a precollision system with dynamic radar cruise control.
