2014 Camry ranks at top for sedan performance, value
The 2014 Toyota Camry is one of the best-selling cars in the United States with one being sold every 60 seconds – and the 2014 model’s combination of drivability, fuel economy and power are key components to that success.
Under the Hood
Toyota engineers equipped the 2014 Camry with two standard engine choices. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine delivers 178 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. When mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, it gets an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 25 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.
A V6 engine brings 268 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque with a fuel economy of 21 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.
A hybrid model with fuel-saving technology allows drivers to pass the gas station with an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 43 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway.
Comfort and Convenience
The 2014 Camry brings the most technology to the driver of any Camry yet. Standard Bluetooth and USB compatibility for wireless devices lets vehicle occupants stream music, integrate popular mobile apps, make hands-free calls and stream video. An available in-dash display also includes full iPod connectivity.
Audio information is displayed on a 6.1-inch screen, and HD Radio and SiriusXM Satellite Radio sync with the Entune system, the vehicle’s infotainment portal.
Driver and passenger stay comfortable with heated seats, the cabin includes increased insulation for a quieter ride, and a 60/40-split rear seat gives several cargo and seating combinations.
Safety
Ten standard airbags are on all Camry models for 2014. They include dual-stage front airbags, front and rear seat-mounted side airbags, side curtain airbags and driver’s knee airbag.
Other standard safety features include vehicle stability control, traction control, antilock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist.
Available safety features include blind spot monitoring system, which uses radar to detect nearby vehicles to prevent collisions when changing lanes, and a backup camera – which comes in vehicles equipped with the display audio system.
